This course trains you to evaluate evidence.  So don't just describe things.  GIve the evidence, and tell us how far the evidence should be accepted, and how far we should be cautious about it.

Topics can include:

family life,

death and mourning,

slavery,

social status,

and similar things

Questions tend to be about social structures, rather than about events.

The TMA will almost certainly require you to use the information we have about the baths, to answer some question about social behaviour.   What we want is the use of evidence to justify your answer.

The exam question is likely to be about some aspect of society, but you are free to choose any sources of evidence you wish.  You might look at archaeological remains of houses, or texts such as Pliny.   But make sure you show that you can argue from evidence - don't just repeat ideas you've read somewhere.  What evidence can you remember for what you say?

By this stage in the course
you should be able
to use evidence
to support what you say.

Answer all four parts of the 'context' question

Make sure you answer the actual question
