Quite a few of these have been found. For years, archaeologists did not know what the pieces of pierced tusks were.

These are photos of helmets made of Boar's tusks, from about
1400 BC. They are found in fragments in Mycenaean graves. We do not see how Homer could have known them, but they
are described in the Iliad. Has the description been preserved in the oral tradition?
